Sweet Evening Treats to Help You Sleep Better Tonight

If you’re like us, you probably enjoy a sweet treat after dinner. What if your dessert could help you fall asleep and stay asleep? 

Dark chocolate chunk oatmeal cookies with cherries


1/2 cup solid coconut oil 2/3 cup brown sugar, packed 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract 1 large egg 3/4 cup whole wheat flour 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1 1/4 tsp sea salt, divided 1 1/2 cups rolled oats 5 oz dark chocolate, chopped 1/2 cup dried cherries

Add the coconut oil, brown sugar, vanilla extract and egg to a large mixing bowl. Cream them together until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and sea salt.

Stir the flour mixture into the sugar mixture until combined. Add the oats, chocolate chunks and cherries and mix until well incorporated.

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and pop it in the freezer for at least 20 minutes.

Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment or silpats.

When the dough is cold, scoop tablespoon sized balls onto a baking sheet 2 inches apart. Sprinkle each ball with a few flakes of sea salt.

Bake your cookies for 13-15 minutes until they are slightly golden.

Remove them from the oven and let them sit on the baking sheet for five minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool.

Rest well and wake up ready to go!
