There are many different types of vegetarians that range from eating fish and dairy but no red meat to eating nothing with a face. On the other hand are vegans. A vegan lifestyle is one that excludes any product containing an animal of any kind \u2013 including dairy. According to a wide variety of sources, vegans and vegetarians are less likely to develop heart problems, cancer, and diabetes than carnivores. Thinking of sleep though, not all vegetables should be consumed before hitting the hay.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vegetarian foods to avoid before bed<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Broccoli\/cauliflower.<\/strong>\u00a0Packed full of healthy nutrients, the downside of these veggies is the high amount of fiber that can keep the digestive system working overtime while you try to get shut-eye.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Avocados.<\/strong>\u00a0We love all things avocado but they\u2019re chocked full of fats (good fats) at 21 grams per serving. They\u2019re good for your body but before bed they take longer to digest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Vegetarian foods to nosh before bed<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sweet potatoes.<\/strong>\u00a0A sleeper&#8217;s dream. They promote sleep-friendly carbs and contain potassium, which helps relax muscles. High fatty foods like red meat have been linked to <a href=\"https:\/\/restonic.com\/es\/blog-es\/health-watch-snoring-and-sleep-apnea-3497\">sleep apnea<\/a>, which can lead to a whole host of health issues over time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chicken.<\/strong>\u00a0Like red meat, chicken can backfill your digestive system during sleep. To balance back towards sleep add a carb, like bread.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Meaty foods to nosh before bed<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Turkey.<\/strong>\u00a0At <a href=\"https:\/\/restonic.com\/es?p=28602\">Thanksgiving<\/a>, that food coma always kicks in after we demolish our fair helping of <a href=\"https:\/\/restonic.com\/es\/better-sleep-es\/tasty-thanksgiving-leftover-sandwich-2645\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">turkey<\/a>. Tryptophan helps the body produce serotonin and regulate sleep.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"no-clear\">So who sleeps better? Vegetarians or meat-eaters?<\/h2>\n<p>The answer may surprise you (and frustrate) you \u2013 there\u2019s no definite answer if vegetarians or meat eaters sleep better. Foods from both diets contain sleep enhancers and sleep de-railers.
