But can you improve your ability to get a <a href=\"https:\/\/restonic.com\/es\/blog-es\/sleep-experts-best-advice-insomnia-384765\">good night\u2019s sleep<\/a>? Overnight? According to an article in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/houzz\/2014\/09\/18\/key-measurements-for-your-dream-bedroom\/\">Forbes Magazine<\/a>, \u201cAn organized and well-considered space can improve your mood when you need to get to sleep, and get your day off to a good start when you wake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Drew and Jonathan Scott, hosts of HGTV\u2019s Property Brothers and founders of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottlivinghome.com\/\">Scott Living Home<\/a> advise beginning with making space. \u201cAt the start of each new season, I clean out my closet and drawers,\u201d says Drew. \u201cI donate anything\u00a0I haven\u2019t worn in at least year\u00a0or, as Marie Kondo would say,\u00a0items\u00a0that don\u2019t spark joy \u2013 no exceptions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan says the start of summer is a good time to rethink storage space in your bedroom. Consider installing a ceiling fan to get air moving or set your thermostat to maintain a constant temperature.<\/p>\n<p>While those flannel sheets were wonderfully warm over the winter, now\u2019s the time to make some swaps. The looser weave of <a href=\"https:\/\/restonic.com\/es\/blog-es\/pick-the-perfect-sheets-4968\">linen sheets<\/a> makes them the best choice to dress your bed, but they don\u2019t feel as soft on the skin as other fabrics. Opt for cotton \u2013 or a cotton blend \u2013 instead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen shopping for sheets, look for ones that are a blend of cotton and\u00a0tencel,\u201d says Drew Scott. \u201cSheets with this combo are super soft and great for all seasons, keeping you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe love this\u00a0blend\u00a0so much\u00a0that it inspired us to\u00a0develop\u00a0our Scott Living\u00a0HygroCotton Tencel\u00a0Sheet Set, available on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.qvc.com\/Scott-Living-HygroCotton-Lyocell-400TC-Sheet-Set-with-Flexi-Fit.product.H216782.html?sc=SRCH\">qvc.com<\/a>, says Jonathan Scott.<\/p>\n<p>And remember, what you do for your sheets applies to your pajamas as well. Consider a pair made of a newer moisture-wicking material if you tend to sleep hot.<\/p>\n<h2>And freshen up your bed<\/h2>\n<p>In the realm of <a href=\"https:\/\/restonic.com\/es\/blog-es\/find-the-perfect-pillow-1047\">cooling pillows<\/a>, the reigning champs seem to be those made of bamboo or gel, according to Dr. Greenburg. Pillows with bamboo fibers tend to be extremely breathable, soft, very light and will keep you comfortable. Since warmer temperatures mean you\u2019re likely to spend more time outdoor, pollen and dust may cling to hair and skin, inviting potential allergens into your bed. You\u2019ll breathe easier after a good cleansing. It\u2019s also a good way to bring down your body temperature, which helps with falling asleep faster.<\/p>\n<p>The BSC also suggests regularly changing or cleaning the air filter on your central AC system to avoid recycling dust and other allergens throughout your home. Here\u2019s an easy recipe, courtesy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wildblueberries.com\/\">Wild Blueberry Association of North America<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wild blueberry coconut smoothie (Serves 4)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 cups (750 ml) wild blueberries, frozen<\/li>\n<li>1 \u00bd cup (375 ml) canned coconut milk, chilled<\/li>\n<li>4 tbsp (60 ml) brown sugar, or less to taste<\/li>\n<li>1 piece of fresh ginger (walnut sized)<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon (5 ml) roasted, grated coconut to garnish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Add \u00be cup (coconut milk and brown sugar to blender. Peel ginger and grate into coconut milk and sugar mixture. Partially defrost wild blueberries in microwave (60 seconds), add to blender and puree at highest speed.<\/p>\n<p>Pour the remaining coconut milk into four glasses and add blended mixture carefully. Stir to create a marbled white and blue mixture. Garnish with roasted and grated coconut, if desired.<\/p>\n<p>If you prefer a crunchy and crispy snack, try these kale chips, from New York-based registered dietician Megan Wolf of WeightZen.com:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kale chips with sriracha &amp; Greek yogurt dip<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 bunch kale<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp (15 ml) extra virgin olive oil<\/li>\n<li>Salt (to taste)<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp (95 ml) garlic powder<\/li>\n<li>black pepper (to taste)<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc cup (60 ml) plain Greek yogurt<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp (15 ml) sriracha<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preheat oven to 350.\u00b0 Rinse kale and remove stems. Towel dry kale well. Any dampness will result in soggy chips. Rip into chip-sized pieces and place in large bowl. Massage 1 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil into kale.<\/p>\n<p>Cover baking sheet with aluminum foil and place the kale in a single layer. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder\u2014or your favorite spices. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until kale is crispy and slightly browned on edges. Serve with a dip made with plain Greek yogurt and little sriracha.<\/p>\n<p>Remember that story about Goldilocks and the three bears? Every sleeper can relate to her in some way when trying to create the perfect environment for a long, restorative snooze \u2013 especially in the heat of summer. As seasons change, take some time to reassess your bedroom and your bedtime habits.
